Geotechnical Engineering

Our Geotechnical Engineering Department is able to assist owners, developers and contractors through analysis, evaluation and inspections of various project types. These services are available for residential and commercial projects.


GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES:

Residential:

  • Soil Study ("Shrink-Swell" Evaluation) with Laboratory Testing and Foundation Design Report.
  • Footing Inspection
  • Projection and Foundation Wall Inspection.
  • Slab Inspection.

Commercial:

  • Subsurface Exploration with Laboratory Testing and Geotechnical Engineering Report. Report will include soil conditions encountered by borings, soil bearing capacity and foundation design recommendations, and general construction recommendations.
  • Engineering Consultation (site meetings, subgrade proofrolling, remediation plans, etc.).
  • Special Inspections:
    • Fill Compaction Testing
    • Footing Inspection
    • Concrete Testing
    • Masonry Testing
    • Steel Inspection
    • EIFS Inspection

Roadways and Parking Lots:

  • CBR (California Bearing Ratio) testing (includes subgrade sampling).
  • Pavement Design
  • Subgrade and Aggregate Base inspections (proofrolling, grade checks and stone depth determination.)
  • Compaction testing of embankment/grade fill and utility trench backfill.

Dams:

  • Condition evaluation and upgrade recommendations (existing earthen dam).
  • Site exploration and design recommendations for new dams.
  • Construction certification (new earthen dam or upgrade to existing dam).

Retaining Walls:

  • Segmental Retaining Walls (Design and Inspection)
  • Concrete and Reinforced Masonry Walls (Design and Inspection)
